I have been a community governor for 8 years and Vice Chair at Rosa Street School for over 4 years and am proud to say that both my son and daughter followed in my footsteps in attending this school.
My father was a governor at Rosa Street Primary School a few years ago and it was this reason that I yearned to be a school governor too, as well as wanting to be involved with my childrens’ education and welfare. After all, they spend a lot of time in the school environment and as a woman I am quite nosey!
My qualification as a Teaching Assistant and my current employment as a Childcare Practitioner at a Nursery School allows me to learn and understand the workings of the school environment.
When my son, and later my daughter, left Rosa Street School, I gave up my position as Secretary of FORSSA (Friends Of Rosa Street School Association) where as a parent I volunteered my help and support in organising school events such as discos, productions and fairs.
My previous employment, which ran for 21 years, provided experience and knowledge of wages, cash flow, budgets and expenditure as well as health and safety.
