Class 3 – Mr Hughes
The Stone Age
We are discovering lots of information about the Stone Age, and have investigated stones and rocks in science, finding rocks all around us in glass, concrete, tarmac and bricks, and investigating some of their properties.
Year 3 also enjoyed following instructions to make their own volcanoes, and then using Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar, we created our own chemical reaction to demonstrate ‘eruptions’ of lava from the craters of our volcanoes.
In Mathematics, we have focused on improving our mental maths skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing as quickly as we keen. Keep practicing our tables at home everyone!
In our writing this half-term, our main text is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have imagined what it would be like to discover the golden ticket, and have written our own golden tickets from Willie Wonka. We have also written dialogue between characters, focusing on exciting vocabulary, punctuation and inverted commas!
Multi-skills PE Day 23rd September 2016
Year 3 really enjoyed competing against other local schools at the multi-skills day at St Charles Primary. Our bouncing, dribbling and throwing skills were all used. The best thing of all was great teamwork from everyone, who were proud to be there representing our school.
