Welcome to Year 2 (Miss Davison)
Our Class Work
Our topic this term is Castles & Dragons.
Our topic this term is Awesome Animals including Dinosaurs.
We took part in lots of Christmas activities in December.
At the Christmas party we played games, had some party food and had a visit from Santa!
Our Christmas production this year was called Straw and Order. It told the Christmas story. Year 2 were the cows and donkeys. We were first on the stage and sang our song beautifully with actions.
We visited Santa at the Town Hall. Some of us posted letters to Santa and we all told Santa what we would like for Christmas. We were good so we all got a selection box.
As part of our RE work we visited Rosa Street Trinity Methodist Church. We heard the Christian creation story and travelled on a journey visiting the people involved in the Christmas story. We listened really carefully and back at school we were able to write the story.
Our grown ups joined us to make some Christmas Crafts. What a fun afternoon!
In Science and DT we focused our learning on what food is healthy for us and we made some fruit kebabs and coleslaw. We had to wash, chop, grate and stir.
In Autumn 2 we focused on Dinosaurs. During outdoor learning day we used our fact cards to measure out some real sizes of dinosaurs. Some were very large!
We went to FBEC and took part in a Year 2 Multi Skills Festival with the SSP . We used all our fundamental movement skills. We all got a certificate for taking part.
We had some animal visitors in Year 2. Susie the chicken visited us first.
Next Buster the dog came for a visit. We thought about what a dog needs to be cared for.
Finally we had a visit from an Albino hedgehog.
We kept ourselves healthy and raised money for the NSPCC by taking part in a carousel of activities in our PE session. We skipped, ran and had a throwing competition.
We raised money for Children in Need. We wore our spots.
We made some animal puppets. We used different joining techniques to hold the puppets together.
