This week in school we have looked at how we can make our diets a little healthier. At the beginning of the week we were lucky enough to be able to make healthy fruit smoothies (using a very novel approach to blending) and we followed this up on Friday where we were invited to Spennymoor Settlement where we watched cooking demonstrations and had a go at making our own healthy pizza.
Olympian in Town!
Although we’ve been learning all about the history of the Olympics and their Greek origin, we were delighted to welcome Chris Tomlinson into school to talk to us about the modern day Olympics that he’s participated in. While he was in school he decided to put us through our paces and test out our athletics skills…something we all really enjoyed!
We were delighted to see so many parents at our class assembly. We thoroughly enjoyed performing for everyone and have learnt lots about the Ancient Greeks in the process.
The Ancient Greeks
As well as performing at our assembly we’ve also been learning about Greek culture. We’ve already designed and created some Greek pottery and now we’re learning how to weave. Although we found it a little tricky at first, with a bit of practise we think we’re all going to be experts before long!
Cross Country Event
Everyone in Year 4 took part in a recent cross county competition at FerryhilL Business and Enterprise College. We were all really proud of the determination and resilient attitude that the children showed on the day. We look forward to attending more sporting events throughout the year.
